 Congratulations to Peter Wolfe who has won the Auburn University Board of Trustees Scholarship! SSS Tutor is Named to All-Alabama Academic Team
Two young women with 4.0 grade point averages have been selected to represent Gadsden State Community College as members of the All-Alabama Academic team. Courtney Davis of Glencoe (a tutor for Student Support Services) and Jada Tiffany Mathis of Oxford will be honored at a dinner in Birmingham during April, where they will be awarded certificates and scholarships. All-Alabama Academic team members are nominated by the faculty and are then selected by a committee that reviews all of the applications.
Courtney attends the Wallace Drive Campus and is majoring in early childhood education. She plans to transfer to Auburn and obtain a bachelor’s degree, with a goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher and a girl’s varsity basketball coach.
Each community college in Alabama has two nominees. The All-Alabama Academic team nominees are also entered in the All-USA Academic team competition, sponsored by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa. National winners earn scholarships and special recognition, including being featured in the USA Today newspaper.
